YIGAS Secures First Cylinder of Liquid Helium from Russia’s Amur Gas Processing Plant

On September 12, 2023, YIGAS reached a historic milestone by successfully securing and importing its first cylinder of liquid helium from Russia's Amur Gas Processing Plant (Amur GPP). The delivery, transported through the China-Russia Heihe Port, highlights a major step in China-Russia energy cooperation and reinforces YIGAS's role as a reliable liquid helium supplier for global markets.

This achievement coincided with the launch of ammonia production at Amur GPP's first line, further strengthening YIGAS's partnership with Gazprom. At the commissioning ceremony, YIGAS emphasized its technical expertise, cost-effective logistics, and commitment to building a sustainable helium supply chain across China, Russia, and Belarus. The success not only secures a new source of helium but also demonstrates YIGAS's ability to deliver advanced industrial gas solutions that support both regional and international demand.

The Amur GPP, located in Russia's Amur Region near Heihe City in northeastern China, is one of the largest energy infrastructure projects in the world. It hosts the world's biggest helium production facility and also serves as the starting point for the East Route of the China-Russia Natural Gas Pipeline—the second major energy corridor linking the two nations. Its strategic position underscores the importance of diversified resource development and long-term stability in the global helium market.

Helium plays a critical role in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, fiber optics, aerospace, and medical imaging. Historically, China has faced supply shortages, making this breakthrough a vital development in ensuring a stable helium supply. YIGAS's cooperation with Gazprom not only alleviates domestic constraints but also contributes to balancing demand in the international market. By securing this helium resource, YIGAS strengthens its reputation as a trusted liquid helium supplier while enhancing the resilience of the global helium market.

The long-term collaboration between YIGAS and Gazprom elevates bilateral ties and supports sustainable development goals for both countries. It represents a model of mutually beneficial China-Russia energy cooperation, advancing infrastructure investment, technology sharing, and cross-border trade. With these efforts, YIGAS is positioning itself to play a decisive role in stabilizing international helium resources and promoting the development of specialized industrial gas solutions for high-tech industries.

Looking forward, YIGAS plans to deepen its partnership with Gazprom and expand into new areas of cooperation. Beyond helium, the company is also focusing on strengthening the nitrogen market, recognizing its importance in electronics, industrial production, and clean energy applications. This diversified strategy ensures that YIGAS remains at the forefront of both helium and nitrogen innovation.

By securing the first cylinder of liquid helium from the Amur GPP, YIGAS demonstrates its commitment to global energy collaboration, its expertise in specialty gases, and its vision of shaping the future of the global helium market.
